Caching & Offline Mode
One of the most critical aspects of digital signage is reliability. If the internet goes down at your retail store or office, your screens should not show an ugly error message or a blank black screen.
Yugna is built on a Local-First Architecture to ensure maximum resilience.
Intelligent Caching
Section titled “Intelligent Caching”When you assign a playlist to a screen, the Yugna player doesn’t stream the videos and images live from the cloud over and over again (which would waste massive amounts of bandwidth).
Instead, the player intelligently caches (downloads) all assigned media assets directly to the physical storage (internal memory) of the Android TV, Fire TV, or media player.
- Instant Transitions: Because the files are local, transitions between heavy video files are instant and smooth, with no buffering.
Offline Mode
Section titled “Offline Mode”Because of this intelligent caching, Yugna boasts a robust Offline Mode.
If a screen loses its Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection:
- The currently assigned playlist will simply continue playing in its normal loop, uninterrupted.
- For cached media (Images, Videos, Image Slides), the screen will never show an “Offline” error message. Even if the TV loses power and boots back up entirely offline, these static assets will still pull from local storage and play flawlessly.
- The player will continuously attempt to reconnect in the background.
Lost Analytics Recovery
Section titled “Lost Analytics Recovery”But what happens to your proof-of-play analytics while the screen is disconnected from the internet?
Yugna ensures no data is lost. While offline, the player continues to track every single scene play and duration internally. We refer to these as “Lost Analytics” (because they are temporarily lost to the cloud).
As soon as the internet connection is restored, the Yugna player automatically performs a handshake with our servers and pushes the backlog of Lost Analytics to the cloud, ensuring your reports are always 100% accurate.
